abstract

one of the most important aims of aquatic hatcheries is availability to mass produce of daphnia magna as a live food with high nutritional value in the shortest time. in the present study, d. magna fed with two freshwater green algae species, chlorella sp. and scenedesmus obliquus, enriched with different dosages of a mixture b group vitamins (0, 0.5, 1 and 2 ml.l-1) were compared at two stages (at the beginning of the culture and at the end of logarithmic growth phase). the results showed that increases in the b group vitamin levels in both enriched algae performed, increasing the fecundity and population growth rate in d. magna at the two compared stages, but significantly only with the control group (p0.05).

effects of daphnia magna fed with b group vitamins-enriched chlorella sp. and scenedesmus obliquus on the growth rate of rutilus frisii kutum fry

currently, white fish or kutum rutilus frisii is considered to be a good candidate for commercial aquaculture. however, little information is available regarding the nutritional requirement of this fish fry. experiments were conducted to examine the effects daphnia magna as live food cultured on two freshwater green algae, chlorella sp. and scenedesmus obliquus enriched with different b group v...

Toxicity of nanoZnO in Daphnia magna fed with ZnO containing Chlorella vulgaris and Scenedesmus dimorphus algae

Nano ZnO is currently used in the rubber, electronics, electrical appliances, enamel, cosmeticsand medical industry. Whereas most studies have used the ecological toxicity of nanoparticles, the toxic effects of nanoparticles in diet is not extensively explored. Because the algaeare at the base of the food chain, any change in their density, biomass and population, wouldaffect the food chain in ...

Differential Response of Green Algal Species Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata, Scenedesmus quadricauda, Scenedesmus obliquus, Chlorella vulgaris and Chlorella pyrenoidosa to Six Pesticides

This work examines the effects of six pesticides on five green algae: Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata, Scenedesmus quadricauda, Scenedesmus obliquus, Chlorella vulgaris and Chlorella pyrenoidosa. The results indicate that the decreasing order of the average toxicity to five algae was: fluazinam > propineb > maneb > mancozeb > zineb > bromoxynil octanoate. however, according to sensitivity magni...

Inactivation and Reactivation of the Hydrogenases of the Green Algae Scenedesmus obliquus and Chlamydomonas reinhardtii

The hydrogenases of the green algae Scenedesmus obliquus and Chlamydomonas reinhardtii were activated under anaerobic conditions. Exposure o f whole cells and cell-free homogenates to air lead to a complete inactivation of the hydrogenases. The inactivation in whole cells of Scenedesmus is faster than the inactivation of the cell-free homogenate. Inactivation of the hy drogenases could be reve...
